Raise The Bar
Free, safe bystander intervention training so employees and patrons feel safe in your restaurant or bar.
Raise the Bar teaches bar and restaurant managers and staff to safely and effectively respond to sexual aggression and gender-based violence. This unique program, made possible by a United Way of Central Oklahoma Wayfinder Grant, puts bar and restaurant staff in a unique position to help protect their community, patrons and fellow employees. It gives employees the tools to safely intervene in a situation where they perceive sexual aggression in progress.
We teach ways to intervene without turning off customers.
How does it work?
- YWCA OKC Sexual Assault Prevention and Response team members and trainers conduct free two-hour training sessions for restaurant and bar managers and staff.
- These safe, effective bystander intervention techniques tailored to staff and managers enable them to intervene when a patron or fellow staff member is being sexually harrassed or assaulted.
- Free publicity will also be provided on the YWCA OKC website and social media channels for being a certified Safe Bar.
Being able to intervene in a harassment situation isn’t just morally right, it is good customer service.
